Kolache is a wonderful Czech treat. It comes in several different forms. This type of kolache is made from a yeast based dough. The dough is soft and slightly sweet and filled with fruit or sometimes a cheese based filling. And then topped with a light cinnamon streusel topping. They are kind of similar to a small danish, some people called them "fruit filled sweet buns". ** You get 20 kolaches in an order. They are roughly 3 inches round and 2 1/2 inches high. Filling options include: Cheese (cream cheese based), Raspberry, Apricot, Blueberry, Peach, Poppy Seed, Lemon Prune, Walnut Cinnamon Sugar, Cottage Cheese with Raisins or my Almond Paste Filling (made with my homemade organic almond paste).
Ingredients: flour, sugar, yeast, organic milk, organic butter, organic eggs, salt + additional ingredients depending upon chosen filling(s).

These kolaches are outstanding! Delicate pastry with a delicious filling —in this case, poppyseed. They are exceptionally well-made. They would add considerably to the sweets at an afternoon tea. They’re very pretty and carefully made. I will order them again.
