Czech Dulkove Kolacky (Fruit Filled Thumbprint Cookies)

"Dulkove Kolacky" is a lightly sweetened Czech cookie, traditionally filled with jam, nuts or cheese. Dulkove Kolacky literally translate to "Dimply Round". A funny sort of name when translated to English, but it makes sense, the cookie dough is shaped into a ball, then the center is pressed with the back of a rounded spoon to give it a sort of dimple.

That "dimple" is then filled with choice of filling and baked. The dough for this cookie is somewhat different than my bow shaped Kolache. The bow shaped Kolache dough isn't sweetened at all, it relies solely on the filling to sweeten it up & is more of a flaky dough.

The Dulkove Kolacky is a sweetened dough, with notes of lemon & vanilla and is similar in texture to a butter cookie. ** Filling options for the Dulkove Kolacky include strawberry (this is actually a favorite among family members & friends whom have tried my Dulkove), peach, apple, apricot, black current, blueberry, cherry, blackberry, walnut, lemon, cheese, pineapple, Nutella or chocolate fudge - and now you can also get them in a variety pack (if you want specific flavors, please list in the personalization section)

Note: The walnut filling is made with finely chopped walnuts, butter, vanilla & sugar. The cheese filling is also a sweetened filling similar to a cheese danish. If you plan to store cookies for a later use, you can keep them inside the cellophane bags I ship the cookies in, however you MUST place them inside a FREEZER SAFE BAG - and freeze. Do not store in airtight containers without the freezer bag, air could still get inside and ruin the flavor of the cookies.

Ingredients:  flour, sugar, organic butter, organic orange zest, organic vanilla extract, organic eggs.  Filling ingredients vary and are a mixture of organic & non-organic ingredients.
