Homemade Irish Stout Soda Bread

After getting about a dozen requests for Irish Stout Soda Bread, I finally decided to give it a try. And it took testing close to as many recipes before developing my own which for the most part I based off my regular Buttermilk based Irish Soda bread. Because it seemed to me that every recipe I found on the net was far too dry for my own personal tastes. Hopefully all of you enjoy a moister Stout Soda Bread.

Made with Guinness Stout, this version of Soda bread has a mild flavor of that famous Irish Stout but not so strong that it overwhelms the entire bread. If you like, you can get it with Caraway Seeds & Raisins added - this gives the bread a wonderful flavor - and very unique. You really wouldn't think that Raisins and Caraway Seeds blend well together, especially in a stout flavored bread, but it all comes together beautifully and tastes amazing!

And no worries, it's safe for the kids. All traces of alcohol are cooked away as the bread is baking.

Sizes:  1 full size loaf is about 40oz - with raisins & caraway seeds added, it will be a few ounces more.  If you prefer, you could get two twenty ounce loaves or 8 five ounce loaves (minis).

Ingredients: flour, baking soda, Guinness Stout, sugar, organic butter, organic eggs, salt, organic buttermilk, optional: organic raisins & caraway seeds.
