Mostaccioli is an Italian Chocolate Spice Cookie - very similar to the Italian Toto Cookie (aka the Italian Chocolate Meatball Cookies). There are many different versions of this cookie, this particular recipe is my favorite, the one I grew up on. This chocolate based cookie has the added flavors of orange zest, cloves, honey, nutmeg,, Limoncello (Lemon flavored Liquor), cinnamon, a dash of rum and chopped walnuts. The Cookies are topped with a thick ganache like chocolate frosting and can be topped with rainbow sprinkles. The cookie is very popular for Christmas Cookie trays but can be enjoyed any time of the year.
Ingredients: flour, sugar, dutch process cocoa, organic milk, organic vanilla extract, organic orange zest, organic raw honey, organic cloves, organic cinnamon, organic butter, organic eggs, baking powder, organic walnuts, homemade Limoncello, salt, rum, organic nutmeg.
