Sicilian Cherry Almond Breakfast Cake

This Sicilian Cherry Almond Breakfast Cake is a delicious way to start your day! Made with dark, sweet cherries, organic marcona almonds imported from Italy, homemade cherry brandy (kirsch), this cake is sure to delight! And while it's called a breakfast cake, who says you cannot enjoy it any part of the day? Goes wonderful with a cappuccino or a cup of coffee, maybe enjoy it for dessert a la mode. This cake is moist and tender on the inside, with a crackly slight crunch outside. It's also lightly sweetened - not an overly sweetened cake, so it's right for breakfast or any other part of the day. If you want an even more wonderful treat, you can get mini chocolate chips in this cake as well, turning this into a Chocolate Cherry Almond Breakfast Cake! It's an 8 inch round cake 4-5 inches tall. You get anywhere from 8 very large serves up to 20 small servings. When I make this for my own family, it's generally about 16 medium slices we cut it into. The children love it with a cup of milk to dunk! If purchasing in the summer please be sure to refrigerate.
